Day 3: Karatu – Lake Natron: Distance:   100 | Travel   Time:  2.5 hour.

An adventurous route to a very special area: magic Lake Natron. Off the beaten track and away from the masses. The route takes you through the cultural home of the Maasai. On the way, you pass Engaruka, an archaeological site of a Stone-age settlement, as well as majestic Oldonyo Lengai, the only active volcano in the Great Rift Valley. After lunch, a Maasai guide will lead you along the ridges of the lake to the source of the Engaresero River. If rain has fallen up in the Rift Valley, water streams over the escarpment, forming waterfalls and streams of sparkling clear water which one can swim in. After this refreshing swim, we walk back to the Tented Camp from which you can see the Ol Doinyo Lengai.

Day 4: Lake Natron Full Day:

Lake Natron will fascinate you with its colors varying from pink, lime green and red, this due to the concentration of minerals … and possibly the flamingoes! It is an almost surreal and breathtaking landscape which will leave you in awe! You will also have a chance for Maasai BBQ and dances. After extensive game drive you will return back to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Lake Natron – Serengeti North East: Distance:   220 | Travel   Time:  6 hour.

A long day but beautiful trip. Before breakfast, we drive to the lake for one more time for a short walk with a Maasai guide will take you for a walk along the shores of the lake to see the lake and Flamingos at sunrise. After breakfast, we leave with filled lunchboxes and head for North-East Serengeti. Leaving the cliff ridges behind we drive through a majestic landscape, regularly meeting local residents and their beautiful cattle on our way. The moment you enter the Serengeti at Klein’s Gate, the landscape changes dramatically into endless savannah with huge herds of grazing animals… and the large carnivores which follow them! After extensive game drive you will return back to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Serengeti North East – Serengeti Central: Distance:   140 | Travel   Time:  4 hour.

After an early breakfast and with packed lunch, we depart for Central Serengeti. This is actually a full day game drive as we spend a large part of the day on safari in the Lobo reserve. This is a remote area of Serengeti, somewhat off the beaten track. A less visited area but you will experience the real wilderness with rocky outcrops. A beautiful drive through a magnificent changing landscape. After extensive game drive you will return back to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 7: Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater: Distance:   160km | Travel Time:  3hour

After breakfast, we will drive to Ngorongoro for the crater tour with picnic descent to the crater floor for the day tour. Some 20,000 mammals live in the area including about 20 black rhinoceros, making the crater the best place in Tanzania to see these amazing creatures. The crater floor also has one of the highest carnivore densities in the world. Lions, cheetahs, hyenas and jackals are commonly seen, while leopards, Serval and bat-eared foxes may be seen with some luck. We will leave the crater around 4pm after game viewing of African Big-five in one park and drive to the accommodation on crater rim for Dinner and overnight.

Wildlife Highlights: wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, black rhinoceros, lion, hartebeest, spotted hyena, hippopotamus, buffalo, elephant, mountain reedbuck, leopard, serval, ostrich, kori- bustard, papilio sjoestedti & many archeological and paleontological sites: Olduvai Gorge, Laetoli, Lake Ndutu.

Day 8: Ngorongoro to Lake Manyara to Arusha or Airport.

We pick you up from your hotel and drive to Lake Manyara. The park derived its name from the Maasai word “Manyara”, which is the Swahili name for the plant, Euphorbia tirucalli. The Maasai use this plant to grow livestock stockades, which matures to a highly durable shockproof hedge. Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Inland of the floodplain, a narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants. After lunch we will leave the park and pass-by Maasai boma along th way before we reach to Arusha for your drop off at the Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight to your other destination or back home.
